NEW DELHI: Nokia has launched, X2, its next-generation Android phone in India at Rs 8,699 more than two months after its initial launch.
Incidentally, the launch follows Microsoft's announcement of killing Nokia's Android phones in favour of Windows Phone handsets. It is not clear if Microsoft will continue with the Nokia X line.
Improvizing on Nokia X, the X2 comes with two distinct home and back buttons for better multitasking. The phone weighs 150gram and measures 21.7x68.3x11.1mm. Nokia X2 features a translucent outer layer and will be available in glossy green, orange and black, glossy yellow, white and matt dark grey colours.
The phone sports a 4.3-inch ClearBlack LCD display (480x800p) with Scratch resistant glass. It supports Double-tap to wake and Nokia Glance screen features.
The dual-sim, dual-standby phone is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 dual-core processor and 1GB RAM. It comes with 4GB internal storage, a microSD card slot and an 1800mAh battery.
It sports a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front facing camera. In terms of connectivity options, the phone supports 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.
Nokia X2 comes with Nokia X software version 2.0, a customised version of Android based on AOSP Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. However, Nokia has started rolling out Nokia X V2.1 that brings support for Google services including Sync, in addition to updates to the camera app.
The phone comes preloaded with Skype, HERE Maps, MixRadio, Outlook.com and OneDrive apps complete with 15GB cloud storage space. It can run Android apps which can be downloaded through the Nokia Store and other third party app stores.
