Microsoft is preparing to launch the next-generation of Nokia’s X-series of Android smartphones tomorrow. The company sent out yet another teaser today, with the headline “The next generation…” and the same photo it had posted last week. The Nokia X2 launch will take place at 12:30PM IST, though we are not sure if it is going to be a press release announcement or a live stream.
BGR India had exclusively reported that Nokia was planning to launch the X2 this week. The second generation of forked Android smartphones will implement user feedback received from the Nokia X and will include a dedicated home button, which was missing earlier.
From what we hear, Nokia is upgrading the software platform as well so it behaves more closely to Android smartphones than earlier. However, Nokia is not ditching Fastlane yet, which is most likely to remain the way to multitask. The dedicated home key will ensure that users reach the Fastlane screen easily.
Earlier, specifications of the Nokia X2 had leaked thanks to a benchmark listing on AnTuTu. According to the listing, the Nokia X2 will feature a 4.3-inch WVGA (800×480 pixels) display, 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB internal storage. It will also sport a 5-megapixel rear camera and VGA front-facing camera.
In comparison, the original Nokia X came with a 4-inch WVGA display, 1GHz Snapdragon dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB storage, microSD support, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 1,500mAh battery and dual-SIM card support.
