“Tips On How To Prevent Hair Loss Or Hair Fall”
I’m sure cursing the services of autos and autowallas all over the country is a common habit of anyone who needs them. I personally had a horrific experience during my second year at college when we had to take up a compulsory internship. Let me explain to you the extent of horrific events that soon unfolded due to this seemingly harmless portfolio enhancer- extremely hiked auto prices, extensive hair loss issues, inhalation of every possible form of air pollution and don’t even get me started on the sketchy workers we had to walk past each day.
As Indians we face a lot of hair loss issues in general. What are the causes of this hair loss? While some causes are due to genetics others hair loss causes are due to various different reasons. So why do we face such problems with hair fall regardless of all our natural remedies and seemingly healthy vegetarian diets?
Possible Causes of Hair Loss and Tips to Prevent it:
Hair Loss Cause #1 – Diet and Nutrition
Diet and nutrition may be one of the biggest causes for hair loss. Having a diet that is lacking in protein or iron can cause significant hair loss. With a veg-diet protein intake is especially important. When you body lacks protein and iron it will shed hair first. Making sure you have the proper balance of nutrition will ensure healthy hair and prevent hair loss. Eating a healthy diet with plenty of protein may be one of the best tips to prevent hair loss.
Hair Loss Cause #2 - Oily Scalps
It’s the fate of every Indian girl/ boy to go through a phase where her mother will force them to oil their hair. While this is necessary for dry scalps and to nourish the length of the hair, over use of oil on the roots may have adverse effects on hair growth and instead lead to hair fall. As a tip to prevent hair loss consider using oil sparingly.
Hair Loss Cause #3 - Over Washing of Hair
This was a little secret I picked up in college over one of those girly sleepovers. While it would seem like it’s necessary to wash away dirt and dust collected in your hair over the day, it is essential to understand that any hair product will strip your hair of it’s natural oils and nourishment balance if used too much. A rule of thumb is to wash your hair on the third day after your previous wash. Another hair tip to remember is that oily hair requires washing more frequently than drier hair.
Hair Loss Cause #4 – Over Exposure to Pollution
For Indians hair is a thing of pride whether it’s wrapped in a turban, let lose in luscious lengths or braided in oily plaits. It’s crucial to do little things on a daily basis to protect your hair from the exposure to dirt and pollution especially if you travel by autos or buses versus a car. A simple hair loss tip would be to wrap your hair in a dupatta or shawl to prevent it from being exposed to pollution.
Hair Loss Cause #5 – Overuse of Hair Products
This one seems like an obvious one, but it is surprising to me how many people prefer using hair products just for a brand name. Hair, just like any other part of the body is unique to an individual and it’s not always the brand names that help get the best results. I purchased a Tony and Gray mousse a few months back to tame my curls, and instead of it helping keep hair in place I found it falling in clumps after use of the product. Use products with amla, neem, aloe vera and fruity bases. Always test a product before you decide to stick to it. Hair loss tip: don’t overuse hair products if you want to prevent hair loss.
Hair Loss Cause #6 – Using the Wrong Shampoo
Another word-of-mouth type of hair loss tip is to constantly switch the products (mostly only applies to shampoos and conditioner) after a few months. Apparently the switch helps shock the scalp, and helps the hair become shinier and stronger. A good way to switch would be to just use a different type of shampoo within the same brand. For example, I always switch between the different shampoo types by the Herbal Essence brand
