As a web 2.0 growing drastically the number of regional language websites and their mobile versions also growing very fast and now playing vital role for regional Netizens,According to Google trends I saw that many people on internet posting issue of regional font for their Nokia Symbian Devices like Nokia N70 etc.Few days ago I am also tired to find the solution for my Nokia N70(My 1st Symbian device)after searching lot I came to know the solution that you can View Regional languages Web-Pages on your Symbian device or any other Opera Mini compatible devices. To read the regional content you must have Opera-Mini browser.
- Opera Mini mobile Browser (Which is easily available for many mobile devices ,download it from mini.opera.com using default mobile browser),GPRS/EDGE/3GInternet Connectivity required.
1. To View Regional Language Webpage on your Symbian or other devices first you have to run Opera Mini, then Configure it to support Regional languages by putting URL “opera:config” into address bar, wait for configuration page to load, when configuration page loaded ,go to bottom of that page by scrolling it down
You will see a option called” “Use bitmap fonts for complex scripts”, change it to “Yes” and save configuration. Try to load any regional website(Marathi website e.g: www.esakal.com), I had done it on my Nokia N8 and works perfectly , though Nokia claim that N8 support Indian languages , Marathi is not properly viewable on my N8 for that I use opera mini for browsing “Indian Languages website”
2. Con of above setting: it require Extra Memory and Data traffic to work.
